India defeated South Africa 3-0 in the Women’s ODI series Smriti Mandhana scored 343 runs in 3 innings
New Delhi. India swept South Africa 3-0 in the 3-match ODI series on the back of Smriti Mandhana’s brilliant batting. India beat South Africa by 6 wickets in the third and final ODI played at the M Chinnaswamy Stadium in Bengaluru. With this, Harmanpreet Kaur & Co ended the series with a win. Smriti Mandhana dominates this series. Although Mandhana fell short of his century in the third ODI by 10 runs, he was instrumental in India’s victory by scoring two consecutive centuries in the first two ODIs.
Smriti Mandhana missed out on a century in the third consecutive match. He played an innings of 90 runs in 83 balls with the help of 11 fours. After restricting South Africa to 215 for 8, India registered an easy victory by scoring 220 for 4 in 40.4 overs. Mandhana, who played innings of 117 and 136 runs in the last two matches, contributed to the team’s victory by making three brilliant partnerships in this match. He shared 61 off 71 balls with Shefali Verma (25) for the first wicket and 62 off 66 balls with Priya Punia (28) for the second wicket.

Harmanpreet scored 42 runs
Mandhana shared a 47-ball 48-run partnership with captain Harmanpreet Kaur (42) for the third wicket. Harmanpreet hit 2 fours in 48 balls. Despite an aggressive half-century and a brilliant start from captain Laura Walward (61), South Africa failed to put up a big score. In addition to hitting seven fours in a 57-ball innings, Walvert shared 102 runs off 119 balls with Taizmin Brits (38) for the first wicket. The Brits hit two fours and a six in his 66-ball innings.
Mandhana missed his third consecutive century by 10 runs
Chasing the target, Mandhana and Shefali got off to a cautious start, Mandhana, who was in great rhythm, opened her arms by hitting three fours off Nadine de Klerk in the sixth over. Shefali hit Ayobonga Khaka for four in the next over. The pair looked dangerous but Tumi Sekhkunen dismissed Shefali in the 12th over to give the team their first breakthrough. Mandhana completed his half-century with a four off Nondumiso Shengase in the 18th over. Punia hit the first six of the Indian innings after hitting fours against this bowler. He returned to the pavilion with an easy catch on the template ball. Punia hit three fours and one six in a 40-ball innings. Mandhana was speeding towards her third consecutive century with some superb fours but a sweep shot against Nonkululeko Mlaba went to Khaka at fine leg.
Richa Ghosh won with a six
Harmanpreet and Jemimah Rodrigues (19 not out) were to complete the formalities of victory. Then the Indian captain was run out. Richa Ghosh scored a six and won the team.
