5G spectrum auction begins, Jio, Airtel and Vodafone Idea bid Rs. 96238 crore will bid


New Delhi:

5G Auction: Today at 10 am across eight bands for Rs. 96,000 crore worth of spectrum has been auctioned about Rs. Eight spectrum bands for mobile phone services at a base cost of Rs 96,317 crore.

The last spectrum auction was held in August 2022, which for the first time included radio waves for 5G services.

According to the statement, “To enhance the existing telecom services and maintain continuity of services, the government will auction the spectrum on Tuesday, June 25, 2024.” This is in line with the government’s commitment to provide affordable, state-of-the-art high quality telecommunication services to all citizens.

It may be noted that all available spectrum in the 800 MHz, 900 MHz, 1800 MHz, 2100 MHz, 2300 MHz, 2500 MHz, 3300 MHz and 26 GHz bands is part of the 10th auction.

Jio is the most vocal for the spectrum auction

Reliance Jio bids highest for spectrum auction at Rs. 3,000 crores have been deposited. Based on that the company can bid for the maximum number of radio waves. According to the Department of Telecommunications, Bharti Airtel has paid Rs. 1,050 crore and Vodafone Idea (VIL) at Rs. 300 crores have been deposited.

Debt-ridden Vodafone Idea Ltd. It can focus on strategic acquisitions, especially in the 26 GHz band, to reduce its spectrum usage charges.
