Neeraj Chopra won the gold medal
Neeraj Chopra Gold Medal Medal at Pavo Nurmi Games: World champion and Olympic gold medalist Neeraj Chopra won the gold medal with a throw of 85.97 meters in the men’s javelin event at the Pavo Nurmi Games 2024 in Turku, Finland. Neeraj is back in action after sitting out the Ostrava Golden Spike meet as a precautionary measure. Neeraj was competing against global talents including Anderson Pieters, Keshorn Walcott, Oliver Hellander and Max Dehning to become the youngest player to break the 90m mark. In 2022, Neeraj stood second in this competition. Chopra, who won silver here in 2022, hit a winning effort of 85.97m in his third attempt and is the youngest member of the 90m club, including 19-year-old German prodigy Max Dehing.
Tony Kernan won the silver medal with a best throw of 84.19m, while his compatriot and last edition’s gold medalist Oliver Hellander finished third with 83.96m. The 26-year-old Chopra comes into the event after finishing second in the Doha Diamond League last month and winning gold at the Federation Cup in Bhubaneswar. After these two events, Chopra took a break after feeling “something” in her adductors (a group of muscles located on the inner thighs).
🥆 His third throw of 85.97 meters earned him the gold medal at the Pavo Nurmi Games 2024.
