A 109-year-old temple in front of which Rajesh Khanna-Mumtaz raised slogans of ‘Jai Jai Shiv Shankar’ was burnt to ashes.

You may or may not remember the story of Rajesh Khanna and Mumtaz’s film ‘Aap Ki Kasam’, but you will definitely remember the song ‘Jai Jai Shiv Shankar Kanta Lage Na Kankar’ from the film. People still remember the lyrics, that hill and the Shiva temple. The song has been shot in Gulmarg’s Shiv Mandir ‘Mohineshwar’, which is located in the world famous ski resort of Gulmarg. A sudden fire broke out in this temple on Wednesday evening. The fire was so terrible that a large part of the temple was damaged in no time.

According to information, there was no casualty in the incident, but the upper part of the temple was burnt to ashes as it was made of wood. Fortunately, there was no one in the temple when the incident took place. At that time the watchman of the temple was also not in the temple premises.

This temple was built in the year 1915 by Mohinibai Sisodia, queen of Maharaj Hari Singh, the last Dogra ruler of Jammu and Kashmir. For this reason it is also known as Mohineshwar Shivalayam and Rani Mandir. It is said that this temple is looked after by a Muslim family.
