Afghanistan lose, but Fazalhaq Farooqui makes history, no bowler like him

Fazalhaq Farooqui sets record for most wickets in T20 World Cup: Afghanistan team definitely disappointed in the ‘semi-final’ match. Despite this, the team’s fast bowler Fazal Haq Farooqui has created history. He became the first bowler in the history of T20 World Cup to take the most wickets in a single edition.

Before Farooqui, this particular record was held by veteran Sri Lankan spinner Wanindu Hasaranga. He performed brilliantly in the year 2021 and took 21 wickets. In the current season, Fazalhaq Farooqui managed to achieve a total of 17 hits. With this he became the first bowler in the history of T20 World Cup to take the most wickets in a single edition.

Fazalhaq Farooqui has achieved this special feat by dismissing the opposition opener Quinton de Kock in today’s match. Sri Lankan cricketers are also ranked third and fourth in the special list. These two players are none other than Ajanta Mendis and Hasaranga. Mendis had 15 hits in 2012. Hasaranga also took 15 wickets in 2022.

Indian fast bowler Arshdeep Singh’s name comes at the fifth position. Arshdeep has taken 15 wickets in the ongoing tournament. If he manages to take 3 wickets against England in today’s match, he will achieve a special feat. Currently it is at 5th position.
