Pakistan vs Afghanistan 1st ODI Match Report: Babar Azam-led Pakistan took a 1-0 lead in the three-match ODI series against Afghanistan on Tuesday. Pakistan beat Afghanistan by 142 runs at the Hambantota Stadium in Sri Lanka. Pakistan won the toss and scored 201 runs in 47.1 overs. At the same time, Afghanistan were bowled out for just 59 runs in 19.2 overs. Pakistani ‘speed gun’ Haris Rauf wreaks havoc. He conceded just 18 runs in 6.2 overs and took 5 wickets. Barring Rahmanullah Gurbaz (18) and Azmatullah Umarzai (16), none of Afghanistan’s players could touch double figures. Umarzai Retired Hurt. Rauf sent Rahmanullah to the pavilion in the 14th over. Rashid Khan (0) was also dismissed for zero. He was bowled by Rauf in the 16th over.
Earlier, Pakistan had a bad start. Opener Fakhar Zaman scored 2 runs while Babar was out for a wicket. He became the victim of a century for the 16th time in international cricket. From Afghanistan, Mujib took three wickets while Nabi and Rashid took two wickets each.
Afghanistan have created an embarrassing record with this defeat. Afghanistan became the lowest scoring team against Pakistan in men’s ODI cricket. This record was held by New Zealand before Afghanistan. New Zealand scored only 64 runs against Pakistan in 1986.
