New Delhi. An embarrassing performance in the ICC T20 World Cup saw the Pakistan cricket team crash out of the first round. Even before the start of the tournament, there was discord in the team. PCB has made Babar Azam the team captain again ahead of the World Cup. He resigned from his post after the ICC ODI World Cup. Shaheen Afridi was given the T20 captaincy but suddenly it was decided to remove him without any reason. Former captain and his father-in-law Shahid Afridi have expressed their anger in this matter.
Shahid Afridi had a lot to say on his social media channel talking about Pakistan’s embarrassing exit from the T20 World Cup. He also reacted strongly to Shaheen Afridi being stripped of his captaincy. The former captain said, “Look, a decision was made about Shaheen, he was made the captain of the T20 team. When you said that he will lead the team till the T20 World Cup then such a decision should not have been taken. Babar Azam should have come forward here and supported Shaheen.
He continued, “Babar Azam should have told the selectors, if you have made Shaheen the captain, we are ready to play the T20 World Cup under his captaincy. He has been playing with me for a long time, if the selection committee makes him the captain I will support him. I will play the T20 World Cup under Shaheen’s captaincy. Babar Azam should have said this. Had he done so, Babar Azam’s honor would have increased. Everyone says that Babar is as big a player as he is and he has made equally big decisions.
Shahid Afridi told how the same selection committee once called Babar Azam a bad captain and today gave him the reins of the team. He said, “Look, I don’t find Babar Azam entirely guilty of this. The real mistake is the selection committee who said that Babar Azam is a very bad captain. Many members of this selection committee were saying that they do not know captaincy. All these matters are on record.”
