‘Ajay Devgn is a good actor but… he couldn’t understand the demand’, Boney Kapoor’s revenge

New Delhi. Ajay Devgn’s film Maidan released on April 10 this year. The audience had high expectations about the film, although it flopped at the box office. Critics and audiences praised the film. But the film was not a success at the box office. Now, almost a month after the film’s release, the film’s producer Boney Kapoor has spoken about its failure. He has blamed the audience for the film’s flop. In his recent interview, he quipped that today’s audience only wants to watch films like ‘Jawaan’ and RRR.

While talking to PTI, Boney claimed that he has thought of bringing a very good film story to the screen. He said- The subject we chose was amazing, and our actor (Ajay Devgn) was also excellent, but somehow we didn’t understand the audience’s demand. Today’s audience wants to watch action movies like RRR, ‘Jawaan’ and ‘Pathan’.

Films continued to flop
Let us tell you that last year, after the huge success of Shahrukh Khan’s Pathan, Jawan and Janwar, Bollywood films proved to be continuous flops in terms of success at the box office. It was hoped to come out of this slump with two big films in April – ‘Meydan’ and ‘Bade Mian Chhote Mian’. But both the films released on Eid failed at the box office. On the other hand, the two Malayalam films ‘Aveesham’ and ‘Varshangalakku Sesham’ that released on Eid did well.

Maidan Movie Total Collection
Now if we talk about the earnings of the film Maidan, it has collected only Rs 67 crores at the worldwide box office while in India it has collected Rs 48.54 crores. According to trade website Sacnilk, the film has managed to earn only Rs 51 crore in 32 days. In such a situation, if we look at the earnings of the film, this film has become a flop film of 2024.
