Srinagar:

The war between Israel and the Palestinian organization Hamas (Israel Palestine Conflict) is escalating in the Gaza Strip. Along with this, the increase in the number of foreign terrorists has prompted security agencies to review security measures and strategize on new measures.

A meeting of top officials and security agencies of Jammu and Kashmir was held at the headquarters of 15 Corps in Srinagar on Wednesday. “New security metrics were discussed. The focus was on how to prevent street protests in the coming days. The meeting was aimed at enhancing coordination,” a senior official told NDTV.

A senior official said that the people of Kashmir are monitoring the military activities in Gaza. We fear that there may be protests on some streets. This may worsen the law and order situation. Hence, new security metrics were discussed to keep things under control.”

The high-profile meeting also discussed the role of foreign terrorists. Another official said, “The number of foreign terrorists has increased again as domestic recruitment in the organizations has decreased significantly.”

Official data shows that 37 of the 46 militants killed in the Union Territory this year were Pakistanis. There were only 9 local terrorists in it. This is the first time in the 33-year history of terrorism in Jammu and Kashmir that the number of foreign terrorists killed is four times more than local terrorists.

According to the Ministry of Home Affairs, about 130 terrorists are currently active in the Kashmir Valley. Half of these are foreign terrorists. A senior official in New Delhi said, “Pakistan wants to keep the climate warm. That’s why it is sending more and more militants to Kashmir. The fear is that people who are hiding in the uplands may also come to the valley.”

Jammu and Kashmir Director General of Police, Chinar Corps Commander and other senior officers of the army, state administration and security agencies also attended the meeting.
