New Delhi. The team that wins the T20 World Cup will not only take home the trophy, but will also get a huge prize money. The ICC has announced a record prize money of $11.25 million (approximately Rs 93.51 crore) for the T20 World Cup. 2.45 million dollars (about 20 crore 36 lakh rupees) will be given to the winner.
The runners-up team of T20 World Cup 2024 will get $1.28 million. Losing teams in the semifinals of the tournament will be awarded $7,87,500. Last time the total prize money was 5.6 million dollars, of which winner England received 1.6 million dollars. However, the prize money of T20 World Cup is slightly higher if compared to IPL 2024. The IPL champion was given a prize money of 20 crore rupees.
The winner of the ninth season of the ICC Men’s T20 World Cup will receive a prize of $2.45 million, the ICC issued a statement. This is the highest prize money in the tournament’s history. Apart from this, the trophy will also be given after the final in Barbados on June 29. The four teams that do not advance beyond the Super-8 will be awarded $3,82,500 each. The ninth to 12th place teams will get $2,47,500 and the 13th to 20th place teams will get $2,25,000. “Each team will get $31,154 for winning each match (excluding semi-finals and finals),” the ICC said.
The 55-match tournament will be played over 28 days at nine venues in America and West Indies. 20 teams are participating in this for the first time. After 40 matches of the first round, the top eight teams will reach the Super Eight. Four of those teams will play the semi-finals.
