Another blow to inflation, now CNG prices hiked, check rate list

CNG prices were hiked by Rs 1 per kg in the national capital and surrounding cities on Saturday. The price hike comes after the supply of subsidized natural gas has been reduced. Indraprastha Gas Limited (IGL), a company that retails CNG to automobiles and piped cooking gas to households in Delhi and surrounding cities, has announced the rate hike on its website.

How much does it cost in Delhi?

CNG price in Delhi has increased from Rs 74.09 to Rs 75.09 per kg, while in Noida, Greater Noida and Ghaziabad it has increased from Rs 78.70 to Rs 79.70 per kg. However, there has been no change in piped domestic gas prices. IGL did not give a reason for the increase. However, sources say that now the company has to buy more imported gas after the reduction in domestic supply. Natural gas extracted from land and seabed is converted into CNG to run vehicles. But supply from ONGC’s domestic fields is not keeping pace with demand for CNG.

Gas sourced from ONGC fields accounts for 66-67 per cent of IGL’s CNG demand. The remaining gas has to be imported. Sources said that since domestic gas supply has been prioritized for domestic gas (PNG), there has been no increase in this segment.

However, there has been no change in CNG prices in Gurugram, as the service here is provided by a different company. Other gas retailers in the city have not announced any price changes yet.

What are the prices in which city of Rajasthan?

CNG prices in Rajasthan’s Ajmer, Pali and Rajsamand have been increased by IGL from Rs 81.94 per kg to Rs 82.94 per kg. Along with Haryana’s Rewari, Uttar Pradesh’s Meerut, Muzaffarnagar and Shamli, CNG prices have also increased. Service in these cities is provided by IGL.
