Apple achieves double digit growth in India, CEO Tim Cook says – focus on Indian market

The Cupertino-based iPhone maker has achieved record revenue in more than a dozen countries and territories.

iPhone maker Apple CEO Tim Cook said on Friday that the company has registered strong double-digit growth in India. With this, the company has set a new revenue record in the March quarter. Cook said the “primary focus” was on the Indian market. He said Apple is working across the ecosystem from developers to markets and is “extremely pleased” with the growth figures.

On India’s contribution to the tech company’s second-quarter earnings, he said, “We have registered strong double-digit growth (in India). We are very happy with this. This March quarter revenue is a new record for us. “As you know, as I’ve said before… I see it as a very exciting market and that’s where we’re primarily focused.”

The Cupertino-based iPhone maker achieved record revenue in more than a dozen countries and territories. That includes record revenues in India, Latin America and West Asia as well as Canada, Spain and Turkey in the March quarter.

On Apple’s India showcase, Cook said the company’s operational work and plans to enter the market are ongoing, “We’ve opened a few stores in the last year and we see tremendous potential there.”

Announcing its financial results for the second quarter of fiscal 2024 ending in March, Apple said it reported revenue of US$90.8 billion in the quarter, down four percent from the previous year.
