Arshdeep Singh Player of the Match: Arshdeep was adjudged Player of the Match

New Delhi:

Wednesday was a great day for Team India in the ongoing T20 World Cup (T20 Word Cup 2024). Team Rohit defeated America (India vs US) in the opening round of cricket by 7 wickets and made it to the Super-8 round of the mega event. In India’s victory, left-handed pacer Arshdeep Singh was the player of the match with four wickets. Arshdeep took two wickets in the first over and immediately put America on the backfoot. And even after this, if the skipper takes two more wickets, he becomes India’s most successful bowler in the nearly 17-year history of the T20 World Cup.

With this achievement, Arshdeep has surpassed five great players simultaneously. Although these five veterans have taken as many four wickets as Ashdeep, but in terms of runs, Arshdeep has beaten them all, R. Ashwin who was behind by two runs at the hands of the left-handed pacer. Ashdeep took 4 wickets for 9 runs.

If we talk about other greats, R Ashwin (4/11, vs Australia, 2024 (Mirpur)) is second, while Harbhajan Singh (4/12, vs England, 2012 (Colombo)) is third. After this, RP Singh achieved four wickets for 19 against Ireland in Durban in 2009, while Zaheer Khan (4/19, v Ireland, 2009 (Nottingham)) achieved the feat. Left-arm spinner Pragyan Ojha is ranked sixth. Ojha took 4 wickets for 21 runs against Bangladesh in 2009.
