Kejriwal’s ‘uncooperative attitude’ led to his arrest: ED

Against Arrest in Delhi Liquor Policy Case Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal The Supreme Court will hear the petition on Monday. According to the details published on the website of the Supreme Court, a bench of Justice Sanjeev Khanna and Justice Dipankar Dutta will hear the case today. Last week, senior advocate Abhishek Manu Singhvi, appearing for the AAP supremo, told a bench headed by Justice Khanna that Kejriwal’s plea was listed for hearing on May 6. In response, Justice Khanna asked the senior counsel to send an email listing the matter. After this, April 29 was fixed for hearing the case.

The ED’s counter affidavit said Kejriwal’s plea had no merit and his ‘uncooperative attitude’ necessitated his arrest. Despite being summoned nine times, Kejriwal did not appear before the investigating officer and kept evading questioning.

In the last hearing, the Supreme Court had issued a notice to the ED, asking the anti-money laundering agency to file its reply by April 24.

Delhi Cabinet Minister Saurabh Bhardwaj said on Sunday that the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) is confident that the court will allow Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal to campaign in the Lok Sabha elections. Bhardwaj said, ‘We are sure that the court will definitely allow Arvind Kejriwal to campaign to save democracy and electoral system in this country.’
