Young fast bowler Shaheen Afridi was stripped of the captaincy. The captaincy was taken away from Afridi and given to Babar Azam. Shaheen Afridi was removed from the captaincy after one series. He led the Pakistan team in the 5-match T20 series against New Zealand where the team lost 1–4. After the defeat against New Zealand, Shaheen was stripped of the captaincy. But Afridi is still ready to captain the team. He is the captain of Lahore Qalandars in the Pakistan Super League. Afridi’s winning percentage in PSL is 52.94. He has won 18 out of 34 matches under his captaincy while Pakistan have lost 15.

It has been a long time since bowling all-rounder Shadab Khan played international cricket. He has played the role of acting captain in international cricket. Leg-spinner Shadab Khan is captaining Islamabad United in the PSL. He led the team to victory in 2024 under his captaincy. His record in PSL is superb. As a captain, he has captained 55 matches. His winning percentage during this period is 56.36.
