BAN W vs IND W: Indian women’s team wins first match by 44 runs, Yastika Bhatia, Shefali Verma and Renuka shine

Indian women’s team defeated Bangladesh women’s cricket team by 44 runs in the first T-20 match on Sunday. With this win, the Indian team has taken a 1-0 lead in the five-match T20 series. In the match played in Sylhet, the Indian team batted first and scored 145 runs for the loss of seven wickets in 20 overs. In response, the Bangladesh team could score only 101 runs in 20 overs, losing 8 wickets.

Chasing a target of 146 runs, the Bangladesh women’s cricket team got off to a poor start. Indian bowler Renuka Singh dismissed Dilara Akhtar (4) LBW in the first over and sent him to the pavilion. After which Shobhana Mostari (6) was bowled in the fifth over. In the second over, Deepti Sharma dismissed Murshida Khatoon (13) and kept the pressure on the Bangladeshi batsmen. After this Bangladesh’s wickets continued to fall.

Fahima Khatoon (1), Shorna Akhtar (11), Rabeya Khan (2), Nahida Akhtar (9) were dismissed after scoring runs. Captain Nigar Sultana played the highest innings (51) from the team. The Bangladesh team could score only 101 runs for eight wickets in the allotted 20 overs. Renuka Singh took three wickets from India. Pooja Vastrakar got two wickets. Shreyanka Patil, Deepti Sharma and Radha Yadav dismissed one batsman each.

Earlier, India had given Bangladesh a target of 146 runs to win. The Indian women’s team won the toss and decided to bat first at the Sylhet International Cricket Stadium. The opening pair of Smriti Mandhana and Shefali Verma tried to get off to a good start. Meanwhile, on the fifth ball of the third over, Smriti Mandhana (9) was bowled by Fariha Trisna and sent to the pavilion. After this, Yastika Bhatia added 43 runs for the second wicket along with Shefali Verma.

Shefali scored (31) off 22 balls with three fours and one six. Yastika Bhatia scored the most runs (36) off 29 balls with the help of six fours. Harmanpreet Kaur played an innings of 30 runs in 22 balls with the help of four fours. Sanjivan Sajna (11) was dismissed for 11 runs. Richa Ghosh (23) and Pooja Vastrakar (4) were dismissed for 17 runs. The Indian team scored 145 runs for seven wickets in the allotted 20 overs. Rabeya took three wickets from Bangladesh. Marufa Akhtar, Fariha Trisna and Fahima Khatun dismissed one batsman each.
