The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) will soon release an advertisement for the post of Head Coach of the Indian Senior Men’s Cricket Team. BCCI Secretary Jai Shah has given this information. The current head coach of Team India Rahul Dravid’s tenure ends in June this year and in such a situation it is clear that BCCI is not thinking of extending his tenure further. However, Jai Shah said that if Dravid wants to return to the post, he will have to reapply for it. Not only that, Jai Shah made it clear that the new head of the Indian team could be an Indian or a foreigner. Who will be the batting coach, bowling coach and fielding coach of Team India will be decided after discussion with the new head coach.

“Rahul Dravid’s tenure is till June, so if he wants to apply, he is free to apply again,” Jay Shah said on Cricbuzz. We are yet to decide whether the head coach will be an Indian or a foreigner. It will depend on CAC and we are a global organization. Thus, the BCCI has indicated that different head coaches for different formats are not currently being considered. England and Wales Cricket Board (ECB) and Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) have already started doing this.

Regarding different head coaches for different formats, Jai Shah said that only the CAC will take a decision on this. India has players of many formats like Virat Kohli, Rohit Sharma and Rishabh Pant, so India doesn’t have that situation. Shah clarified that the new head coach will be associated with Team India for a long time and his first tenure will be three years.
