Pakistan and Afghanistan are scheduled to play a three-match ODI series from August 22 and the Asia Cup 2023 will begin soon after its completion. The first match of Asia Cup 2023 will be played on August 30. Asia Cup 2023 will be hosted by Pakistan and Sri Lanka. In fact, the hosting of Asia Cup 2023 was given to Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB). Pakistan was supposed to host all the matches of the Asia Cup 2023, but the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) refused to send its team to Pakistan to participate in the Asia Cup.

Meanwhile, the situation between PCB and BCCI had become such that it seemed that Asia Cup 2023 would have to be postponed. After that PCB and Asia Cricket Council (ACC) agreed on a hybrid model of Asia Cup 2023 and then other cricket boards also gave green signal for Asia Cup 2023 on their behalf. The final match of the Asia Cup will be played on September 17 at the R Premadasa Stadium in Colombo.
