Bihar CHO Vacancy: 4500 Community Health Officers Recruitment in Bihar, Know Qualification & Salary

Bihar Health Department has announced the recruitment for 4500 Community Health Officers in Health Sub Centers and Health Wellness Centers. For this B.Sc Nursing Pass candidates can apply from 1st to 21st July. Appointment will be on contract basis. You will get 40 thousand rupees per month which includes 32 thousand salary and 8 thousand rupees incentive. Application filling details are available on State Health Committee website shs.bihar.gov.in. Earlier, the State Health Committee had issued a notification for the post on March 9 but it was canceled on March 12 due to unavoidable reasons. Even in the ongoing restoration there has been no change in the vacancies in many categories. This time also due to lack of vacancies in unreserved category this issue may arise again. However the vacancies are as per the roster of the department. All posts in unreserved category are already filled. These vacancies are backlogged. There is also a problem of 65 reservations in this restoration. Health Department will take further decisions as per instructions of General Administration.

The minimum age of the applicants for this is 21 years and the maximum age limit is different for different categories. Maximum age for non-reserved and economically weaker sections is 42 years. For vulnerable and economically weaker section women, it is 45 years. The upper age limit is 45 years for men and women belonging to Backward and Very Backward Classes. Maximum age limit for Scheduled Caste and Scheduled Tribe candidates is 47 years. A maximum relaxation of 10 years in age limit is provided for candidates with disabilities.

Problem in restoring 45 thousand posts of health department
The health department had targeted to complete the recruitment of 45 thousand posts including nurses by October this year. But now the appointment is likely to be delayed. Recently, the High Court stayed the decision to increase the reservation limit from 50 to 65 percent in Bihar. In such a situation, the matter will remain stuck in the appointment until clear guidelines are issued by the General Administration Department in this regard. Due to this reason candidates have to wait more.

The dilemma regarding vacancies is whether reservation will be implemented at the rate of 75 per cent including 10 per cent reservation for economically weaker sections or as per the old norms. Until the percentage of reservation is determined, the vacancy roster will not be prepared accordingly. The department has intensified the process for recruitment to vacant posts in the health department including doctors, dentists, nurses, ANM, GNM, CHO and para medical. The department had asked to reserve vacancies in all districts as per the roster. 1339 Assistant Professors are to be appointed under the Department of Health and National Health Mission. 3523 Specialist Medical Officers and 396 General Medical Officers are to be appointed. 1290 General Medical Officers are also to be appointed on contract basis.
