Former Australian spinner Brad Hogg has made a big prediction ahead of the semi-final match between South Africa and Afghanistan. The two teams will meet in the first semi-final of the T20 World Cup 2024 at the Brian Lara Stadium in Trinidad on Thursday (June 26). Hogg believes that if the South African team wins the semi-final, they will also win the trophy. South Africa and India are the only two teams that have not lost a single match in the ongoing tournament. The South African team, led by Aiden Markram, has reached the semi-finals after winning seven matches in a row.
The South African team is looking for its first title. In the history of the T20 World Cup, African teams have reached the semi-finals seven times but not once in the final. They will be happy that this time they don’t have to play against a strong opposition team. The African team has lost three out of four times against Australia.
“I respect Hendricks as well, I really like him as a player,” Brad Hogg said on the Star Sports Press Room Show. He can play spin well. Especially with Klassen. I hope he will do really well against Afghanistan and reach the final.
“I think it will be South Africa and we have a really strong team, good spin with Shamsi and Maharaj,” Hogg said. I’m not looking to play against big countries now, and I think they have to go there and play again and be confident to get to the final. For me, if I look beyond the semi-final, South Africa is going to win the final this year.”
