Till the 54th match of the tournament, 960 sixes have been hit. Today Monday is the match between Mumbai Indians and Sunrisers Hyderabad, which will be the 55th match of IPL 2024. If 40 sixes are hit in this match then 1000 sixes in IPL 2024 will be completed.
The record for most sixes hit in a match in IPL 2024 is 42. This record was made on April 26 in a match between Kolkata Knight Riders and Punjab Kings. KKR hit 18 sixes in this match, in reply to which Punjab Kings hit 24 sixes. In IPL 2024 itself, 38-38 sixes have been hit in Hyderabad vs Mumbai and Hyderabad vs Bengaluru matches.
Narine has the most six in his name
Sunil Narine holds the record for most sixes in IPL 2024. The KKR all-rounder has hit 32 sixes in 11 matches. Henrik Klaasen scored 31 runs, Abhishek Sharma scored 38 runs. Sunrisers Hyderabad’s batsmen are second and third in terms of most sixes. Shivam Dubey of Chennai Super Kings has hit 26 sixes and Ryan Parag of Rajasthan Royals has hit 25 sixes.
Virat Kohli at number six
Virat Kohli has been criticized many times for his slow strike rate in IPL 2024. But the Royal Challengers Bangalore batsman is ahead of Rohit Sharma, Hardik Pandya, KL Rahul, Suryakumar Yadav, MS Dhoni and Rishabh Pant for most sixes in the tournament. Kohli has hit 24 sixes in 11 matches. Rishabh Pant is also on par with Virat by hitting 24 sixes. He is followed by Dinesh Karthik (19) and Rohit Sharma (19) among the Indian batsmen. Suryakumar Yadav has hit 12 sixes and Hardik Pandya has hit 10 sixes. Dhoni has 9 sixes to his name.
Longest six in Karthik’s name
Dinesh Karthik has the longest six in IPL 2024. He hit a 108 meter six against Sunrisers Hyderabad. DK hit this six off T Natarajan. Henrik Klaasen has the second most six in the tournament. Sunrisers Hyderabad’s African batsman class hit sixes in 106 meters against Royal Challengers Bangalore.
Also a record in the name of Will Jacks
Will Jacks holds the record for most sixes in an innings in IPL 2024. Will Jacques of Royal Challengers Bangalore hit 10 sixes in the innings against Gujarat Titans. Will Jacks also completed the century with a six.
