But the Chennai Super Kings star fast bowler has got a bigger contract in the Lankan Premier League (LPL) than the IPL. Mathisha Pathirana popularly known as ‘Baby Malinga’ is a Sri Lankan star fast bowler. Pathirana had been doing brilliantly for Chennai Super Kings before getting injured.
Cricketers bid for the Lanka Premier League (LPL) on Tuesday. Matisha emerged as Pathira’s most expensive player in the LPL auction. Colombo Strikers bid $1.20 lakh (roughly one crore rupees) for Mathisha Pathirana. This is the record for the highest bid for any cricketer in the LPL.
Dilshan Madushanka had earlier received the status of LPL’s most expensive cricketer from Matisha Pathirana. Dilshan Madushanka became the most expensive cricketer of LPL last year. Jaffna Kings included Dilshan Madushanka in their team by bidding 92 thousand dollars.
Chennai Super Kings inducted Mathisha Pathirana in their squad in 2022 as a replacement for New Zealander Adam Milne. Pathirana has a base price of Rs. 20 lakh contract was awarded.
