Indian Grandmaster R Pragyanandha continues to make a splash in the Chess World Cup 2023. Pragyanandha scored a thrilling victory in the semi-finals of the FIDE World Cup chess tournament on Monday. He beat American Fabiano Caruana 3.5-2.5 in a tiebreak. Caruana is the number three player in the world. 18-year-old Pragyanandha got the better of the veteran grandmaster after the two-match classical series ended 1-1.

The Indian grandmaster will now face Norway’s Magnus Carlsen in the final. India’s greatest chess player Viswanathan Anand congratulated Pragyanandha on his victory. He wrote on social media platform X (Twitter), “Prag (Pragyanand) has reached the final! He defeated Fabiano Caruana in a tiebreak and will now face Magnus Carlsen. What a great performance!”
