China appoints ambassador to India after 18 months New Ambassador Xu Feihong has reached Delhi. He spoke to the media before coming to India. He said his aim in India would be to talk to all sections of society and try to improve bilateral relations.

On the question of tension on the India-China border, Xu Feihong said that the entire relationship should not be viewed from the perspective of one issue. After the 2020 incident, the two countries are talking at diplomatic and military levels. The army has been disbanded at four places.

The new ambassador claimed that the situation along the Line of Actual Control (LAC) is under control and there is peace. He said that China is ready to talk to India and find a solution acceptable to both.

The post of China’s ambassador to India had been vacant for nearly 18 months, the longest gap in four decades. Xu Feihong replaces Sun Weidong, who left in October 2022 after completing his tenure in India. Xu has served as China’s ambassador to Afghanistan and Romania.

Zhu’s arrival in India comes amid protracted military and diplomatic talks between Beijing and New Delhi to resolve the military standoff in eastern Ladakh.

Let us remind you that 20 Indian soldiers were killed in a clash between Indian and Chinese troops in 2020. China’s army has not returned to its previous position before April 2020. There have been several rounds of negotiations at the diplomatic and military levels. Relations between the two countries have been frozen.
