According to a report in Times of India, Mumbai Metro Rail Corporation Limited (MMRCL) is gearing up to launch the first phase of Metro 3, the Aqua Line, which is expected to begin on July 1.
Mumbaikars will find it easy to travel
Traffic is a major problem in Mumbai, in which case the metro will make people’s journey easier than ever. At present, 99.5 percent of the work of Aray Depot has also been completed. Trains on this line will run between Aarey and Bandra-Kurla Complex (BKC). Currently there is some finishing, trial and testing to be done. A backup operation and control room has been set up at Bandra Kurla Complex (BKC) to manage train operations. Aray Depot is spread over 30 hectares, of which the station and depot occupy 25 hectares and the remaining 5 hectares are for other uses. Where there are facilities for maintenance, operation, administration and training of Metro.
Depots are an important part of any metro project
Only a maximum of 20 trains will be in service for passengers at a given time, some of which will be deployed at terminal stations like Cuffe Parade and Bandra Kurla Complex, ready for morning operations. Each depot is considered a very important part of any metro project. Earlier, the construction work at the depot was delayed for three years due to some legal disputes. Aray Depot serves as the central control room for Metro 3.
