New Delhi. Delhi Capitals have turned the entire equation upside down by making a strong comeback in the IPL playoffs race. Rishabh Pant’s team Delhi defeated Rajasthan Royals by 20 runs on Tuesday. With this win, Delhi Capitals have jumped two places to the fifth position in the points table. It has pushed Lucknow Supergiants, strong playoff contenders until a week ago, to sixth place. Not only this, in the new equation, Chennai Super Kings are also in danger of dropping out of the top-4.
Delhi Capitals faced Rajasthan Royals in the 56th match of IPL 2024. In this match, Delhi scored 221 runs for 8 wickets. After this Rajasthan Royals were stopped at the score of 201. With this defeat, Sanju Samson’s team Rajasthan Royals’ advantage on the points table has come to an end. However, he is still second with 16 points. But the difficult thing for RR is that they lost two matches in a row. The team which was number one in the points table with 16 points on April 27. After 10 days it is still stuck at 16 points. Kolkata Knight Riders are at number one with equal points.
Rajasthan Royals still have three matches to go and their playoff berth is in little doubt. But Delhi have certainly given Lucknow Supergiants, Sunrisers Hyderabad and Chennai Superkings tension. These three teams already had 12 points. Now Delhi has also achieved 12 points. That means there is a traffic jam at point 12. The Lucknow Supergiants team seems to be facing the most trouble in this traffic jam. It is sixth below Delhi. Chennai is third and Hyderabad is fourth.
Chennai may slip to fifth place
Sunrisers Hyderabad vs Lucknow Supergiants match in IPL today on 8th April. A day before this match, there was heavy rain in Hyderabad. Rain is likely today and Wednesday. Both teams will be tied 1-1 if this match is not held due to rain. In such a situation, Sunrisers Hyderabad may come third and Lucknow Supergiants fourth. But if Bengaluru, Punjab and Gujarat win their remaining three matches, they can go up to 14 points.
