Delhi liquor policy case: Rouse Avenue court sends CM Kejriwal to 14-day judicial custody

New Delhi:

Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal has been sent to Tihar Jail in 14 days judicial custody by the special CBI court at Rouse Avenue in the Delhi Liquor Policy case. The CBI filed an application to send Kejriwal to Tihar jail in judicial custody. In its petition, the CBI accused Kejriwal of not cooperating with the investigation. The CBI said that Kejriwal is deliberately not answering questions related to the liquor scam. Also, Kejriwal did not answer the reason for increasing the profit margin from 5 percent to 12 percent in the new liquor policy.

It was said from the CBI that when the second wave of Corona was going on in the country, why was there a need to change the liquor policy in the cabinet? CBI also said that why there was such a rush, the accused in the case related to South Lobby were staying in Delhi and were in touch with Kejriwal’s close associate Vijay Nair. Also said why was the government in a hurry to implement the new liquor policy?

Kejriwal accused of avoiding questions

The CBI said that during the interrogation of Arvind Kejriwal, several meetings of his close aide Vijay Nair with liquor barons, demand of bribes worth crores of rupees, use of bribes of around Rs 44.5 crores in Goa elections, along with Magunta Srinivasallu Reddy, Arjun Pandey and others. Mutha refrained from answering all questions like the reason for the meeting with Gautham.

CBI said that in such a situation they do not need Arvind Kejriwal’s remand. Kejriwal should be jailed in judicial custody.

Kejriwal’s lawyer filed 2 applications in the court

Kejriwal’s counsel filed two petitions in the special CBI court, both of which were accepted. Kejriwal’s lawyer made these two demands in the court.

1. Kejriwal should be allowed to meet the family for 10 to 15 minutes until the judge writes an order.
2. When Kejriwal was sent to judicial custody after his arrest in the ED case, the exemption granted on medical grounds should continue.
