Dhananjay Singh has been sentenced to seven years in jail in the kidnapping case.

The BSP canceled the ticket of Srikala Reddy, wife of former MP and strongman Dhananjay Singh, at the last minute. After this Srikala was deprived from contesting elections. Now Dhananjay Singh has decided that he will support BJP candidates in Lok Sabha Election 2024. Srikala Reddy released pictures of her meeting with Union Home Minister Amit Shah on Tuesday. Because of this, the discussion of Srikala joining the BJP has gained momentum.

Dhananjay held a meeting with his supporters on Tuesday. In this he declared his support to BJP. Hence he has an old relationship with RSS, he has also been a supporter of RSS ideology.
What did Dhananjay Singh say to his supporters?
He said, “I will support BJP. I am with Prime Minister Narendra Modi and CM Yogi Adityanath.” I know that people who are with me today are leaning towards BJP. Respecting public sentiments we have declared support to BJP that if my wife Srikala joins BJP it will be her personal decision, I have no objection.
Srikala Reddy is Jaunpur District Panchayat President. Prime Minister Narendra Modi addressed an election rally in Jhonpur on Wednesday itself.
On May 6, the BSP announced Shyam Singh Yadav as its candidate from Jaunpur in place of Srikala Reddy. That day was the last date for nomination. BJP has nominated Maharashtra BJP leader Kripashankar Singh in Jaunpur. He left Congress and joined BJP in 2021. He is originally a resident of Sahodpur village in Baksha block of Jaunpur district, in Jaunpur former minister Babu Singh Kushwaha is contesting on a Samajwadi Party ticket.
Punishment and release of Dhananjay Singh
On 6 March, the Jaunpur MP-Legislative Court sentenced Dhananjay Singh to seven years in prison. He was found guilty of kidnapping the Namami Gange project manager and extorting ransom, after which Dhananjay Singh was sent to jail.
On April 16, the BSP announced Srikala Reddy, wife of Dhananjay Singh, as its candidate from Jaunpur. He also filled the nomination form. Dhananjay Singh was transferred from Jaunpur Jail to Bareilly Jail on April 27. On the same day, Allahabad High Court granted bail to Dhananjay Singh in this case. He was released from Bareilly Jail on 1 May.
