England have announced a 14-man squad for the first two Test matches against the West Indies. England fast bowler Chris Woakes has managed to return to the team after a long time. He played in last year’s Ashes, where he won the Player of the Series award. Woakes was not part of the five-match Test series against India. Jonny Bairstow, Ben Fox, Mark Wood, Jack Leach and Ollie Robinson have been shown the way out.

England have also included fast bowler Dillon Pennington and batsman Jamie Smith in the squad. Pennington is yet to play for England in any format, while Smith has played 2 ODIs. Gus Atkinson is also part of the team. He has played 9 ODIs and 3 T20 matches for the team. Atkinson came to India, but did not get a chance to play.

England’s first Test match will begin on June 10 at Lord’s Cricket Ground, which will also be James Anderson’s last match in international cricket. The British team wants to make Anderson’s departure memorable. Jonny Bairstow, Ben Fox, Mark Wood, Jack Leach and Ollie Robinson did not get a place in the opening matches.

“The first Test of the summer is always a special moment, but it will be even more poignant for Jimmy (Anderson) as it is the last Test before he retires,” ECB managing director Rob Key said. Since then we all wish him well as he plays for England for the last time.”
