Despite the team’s defeat, they managed to create history. Fazalhaq Farooqui has become the highest wicket-taker in a single edition of the T20 World Cup. He has surpassed Sri Lankan all-rounder Wanindu Hasaranga.

Fazalhaq Farooqui has now become the highest wicket-taker in the T20 World Cup. As soon as he dismissed opener Quinton de Kock in the semi-final match against South Africa, he took the world record in his name. He surpassed former Sri Lankan all-rounder Wanindu Hasranga. He took 16 wickets in the 2021 T20 World Cup, but Fazalhaq Farooqui finished the tournament with 17 wickets.

However, Indian team’s fast bowler Arshdeep Singh has a golden chance to break this world record of Fazalhaq Farooqui. He has taken 15 wickets in this T20 World Cup and is fifth on the list. If he takes one wicket against England in the semi-final match, he will move up to the third spot, while if he takes three wickets, he will overtake Fazal Haq Farooqui. Ajanta Mendis has also taken 15 wickets in T20 World Cup.
