Reigning Olympic and world champion Neeraj Chopra has won the gold medal in men’s javelin event at the Federation Cup 2024. Neeraj won the gold medal with a throw of 82.27 meters at the Kalinga Stadium in Bhubaneswar. Neeraj Chopra returns home after three years. Neeraj had earlier won the gold medal in the same event in 2021 with a throw of 87.80 meters. Last week, Neeraj finished second in the Doha Diamond League with a throw of 88.36 metres. The eyes of the fans were on Neeraj. Neeraj has been trying to cross the 90 meter mark for a long time, but he is not succeeding in it. Neeraj tried to break his own national record of 89.94 metres, but failed.

Neeraj Chopra threw 82 meters in the first attempt. While DP Manu, who won the silver medal, threw 82.06 meters in the first attempt. After the first round, Neeraj was in second place and DP Manu was in the lead. Neeraj’s second attempt was a foul. Neeraj was not happy with his second attempt and felt that he took a deliberate foul. DP Manu clocked 77.23 in the second attempt.

While Neeraj Chopra threw 81.29 meters in the third attempt and DP Manu was ahead. Even after the third round, DP Manu stood first with 82.06m and Neeraj second with 82.00m. However, Neeraj Chopra took the lead in the fourth attempt with a throw of 82.27m. While DP Manu threw 81.47 meters in the fourth attempt. Uttam Patil finished third with a throw of 78.39 meters and won the bronze medal. Neeraj decided not to take the last two throws.
