7th Pay Commission: Central employees are awaiting Dearness Allowance (DA) in the second half of the year. A decision will be taken in this regard in the next few months. Earlier Sikkim government has given a big gift to its employees and pensioners. The state government has approved the proposal to increase the dearness allowance by 4 percent.

State government officials said that with this 4 per cent hike, the dearness allowance for government employees and pensioners has gone up to 46 per cent. This increase will increase the state exchequer in the current financial year by Rs. 174.6 crore will be affected. This increase in allowance will be effective from July 1, 2023.

The decision was taken during the first cabinet meeting of the Sikkim Revolutionary Front government chaired by Chief Minister Prem Singh Tamang. Last March, the Union Cabinet approved additional installment of dearness allowance (DA) to central government employees and dearness relief (DR) to pensioners to compensate them for dearness. Under this the rate of 46 percent of basic pay/pension has been increased by 4 percent. About 49.18 lakh central government employees and 67.95 lakh pensioners are benefiting from this.
