Govt to help five lakh MSMEs through ONDC, 50% benefit to women: Union Minister


New Delhi:

To empower Micro, Small and Medium Enterprises (MSME), the Union Government has decided to bring five lakh MSMEs on Digital Commerce (ONDC). The initiative is named ‘MSME Team’. Under this, financial assistance will be provided to bring five lakh MSMEs to ONDC. Apart from this, help will also be provided in account management, logistics, packaging and catalog making.

Union MSME Minister Jitan Ram Manjhi said half the benefit will be given to women-led MSMEs under the scheme. MSMEs have a major role to play in making India self-reliant and developed, he further said that in a rapidly changing environment, MSMEs should adopt digital and technology solutions.

Another initiative ‘Yashaswini’ has also been launched by the Ministry. It aims to formalize women-owned informal micro-enterprises and provide them with capacity building, training, support and guidance.

Under this, a whole range of campaigns will be launched by the MSME Ministry in the current financial year. Its focus will be on Tier 2 and Tier 3 cities.

The MSME minister emphasized that as per Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s vision, the effort needs to be deepened and expanded through an inclusive and focused approach, especially in rural areas and hinterlands.
