Gulshan Dehia has worked with Vivek Agnihotri in Hate Stories. Now during an interview, Gulshan said that he feels that Vivek has played with people’s emotions during the Kashmir files. He said that Vivek is a marketing person. For the publicity of his film, he revived old wounds of people.

Propagation through pain
During a conversation with Siddharth Kanan, Gulshan said, ‘He is a marketing person and has a strong following. He is also very successful as a filmmaker and writer. But there are a few things I criticize. In Kashmir Files he uses a lot of footage of people who have gone through this pain. Viewers of the film were reminded of the time when Kashmiri Pandits were expelled and what happened to them. They used to broadcast it on social media as propaganda. I think this is exploitation.

Gulshan said, ‘You are exploiting someone’s genuine pain and trauma. I think you are using their real pain to bring your film into limelight. I find this exploitative. I criticize the film on this one point. Otherwise it was a good movie and I think he is an okay director.
The film was mired in controversies
Vivek Agnihotri’s film The Kashmir Files was much discussed. The film was much discussed in social media. People trolled it by calling it a propaganda film. The victim’s family also came forward. Kashmir Files did a great job.
