Hamas responded to the ceasefire proposal, what will be the consensus?

Hamas and Palestinian Islamic Jihad have sent their reactions to the ceasefire proposal to Qatar and Egypt. Egypt and Qatar are mediating the matter. This cease-fire formula was presented by US President Joe Biden on May 31. It talks about a three-phase ceasefire, the release of Israeli hostages and Palestinian prisoners, massive humanitarian aid to Gaza, and the reconstruction of Gaza.

The United Nations Security Council has also endorsed this ceasefire proposal. Among the 15 member states, Russia abstained and the remaining 14 voted in favor of a ceasefire. US Secretary of State Blinken also visited West Asia for the eighth time to put pressure on Hamas to accept the ceasefire proposal.

Hamas has responded by saying it is ready to reach a ceasefire agreement. However, some improvements have been made on their part. Some comments have also been made. As he has said, Hamas’ priority is to completely stop Israel’s attacks in Gaza. The response called for a complete withdrawal of Israeli troops from Gaza. It also demands that Israel abandon the Rafah crossing and the Philadelphia corridor.

Osama Hamdan, a senior Hamas official, told the media that Hamas had added its own points to the ceasefire agreement proposal and submitted it to mediators. Although nothing has been announced by Hamas, according to its official, Hamas is adamant that Israeli attacks in Gaza cease completely, that Israeli troops withdraw from Gaza, that Gaza be rebuilt and that Palestinian prisoners be released.

After receiving the response from Hamas, Qatar and Egypt issued a joint statement saying that they are studying it and that the two countries will continue to work with the US until an agreement is reached. On the other hand, the US has also said that it is assessing the reaction of Hamas.
