He’ll call the restaurant on a date, then run away… The incredible gang that robbed millions from ‘Bill’ in Delhi.

New Delhi:

After making friends on a dating app, he’ll ask you out on a date to a restaurant, then elope… and you’ll end up with a bill of millions…! Yes, if you are looking for a partner on dating apps like Tinder and Bumble, be careful. Many such ‘gangs’ are active on these dating apps, which are cheating people out of lakhs of rupees. One such gang was recently caught by the Delhi Police. Delhi Police has arrested 25-year-old Afsan Praveen, who worked in a restaurant to cheat ‘male friends’. The owner of the restaurant has also been arrested by the police. According to the police, many such gangs are luring people through dating apps, so one needs to be vigilant.

He threatened to embezzle millions

Afsan Praveen used to search for people on dating apps all day and duped them of thousands of rupees at night. She befriended men through dating apps and invited them to restaurants and cafes. Here she used to go after dinner, after which the boy had to pay a bill of thousands of rupees. If the boy refused to pay the bill, he was threatened by CCTV and the police. In such a situation the boys had to pay the bill even though they did not want to.

This is how ‘Bewafa Dilruba’ ended up behind bars

When Afsan Praveen stopped picking up his phone, the boy realized that he had been duped. Praveen created fake accounts with different names on several dating apps. Currently Praveen is behind bars. A civil services aspirant filed a molestation case against Praveen. This guy met Praveen on Tinder. After this, Praveen invited him to meet him at the ‘Black Mirror’ restaurant in East Delhi. Praveen was arrested by the Delhi Police from a cafe while committing a similar fraud on a person from Mumbai. Joint Commissioner Sagar Singh Kalsi said that Akshay Pahwa, owner of Black Mirror Cafe, has also been arrested. “Manhunt is on for other accused in this case,” he said.

‘met’ on Tinder

The complainant, who is preparing for civil services, said that for the past few weeks, he had been talking to a girl named Ayo (fictitious name) on Tinder. Recently Varsha said that Monday is her birthday. He wants to celebrate this day at Black Cafe located on Vikas Marg. The complainant and Varsha went to this cafe. Here he ordered some breakfast, cake and some drinks. After some time Varsha got a call and she left pretending that there was an emergency at home.

She would call, but not to go

Presenting a bill of 1 lakh 22 thousand, the ground slipped from under the feet of the complainant. When he refused to pay the bill, he was beaten and forced to pay. After coming out, he went straight to the police station and Varsha was arrested, who turned out to be Afsan Praveen. Let us tell you that scams through dating apps are new in Delhi, but such cases of fraud have been coming to light in European countries for a long time. Police advise to be alert in such situation.
