Party organization general secretary KC Venugopal also questioned whether Kharge was kept out of the committee because he was not favorable to the BJP and the RSS.

In an insult to Parliament, the BJP has replaced the Leader of Opposition in the Rajya Sabha with a former Leader of Opposition (Ghulam Nabi Azad) in the committee.
He claimed, “The BJP first concocted this gimmick to divert public attention from the Adani ‘mega scam’, unemployment, inflation and other burning issues. Then it tried to tilt the balance of the committee by excluding its staunch opponents.
Venugopal asked, “What is the reason behind Khadgeji’s ouster?” Is a leader who rises from such a humble background to the top post of India’s oldest party and leads the entire opposition in the Upper House inconvenient for the BJP-RSS?
The government on Saturday instructed an eight-member high-level committee to look into the issue of holding simultaneous elections to the Lok Sabha, state assemblies, municipalities and panchayats and make recommendations at the earliest.
The committee will be chaired by former President Ram Nath Kovind and will have Home Minister Amit Shah, Congress leader in Lok Sabha Adhir Ranjan Chaudhary, former Leader of Opposition in Rajya Sabha Ghulam Nabi Azad and former Finance Commission Chairman NK Singh as members.
The committee will start work immediately and make recommendations at the earliest. Former Lok Sabha Secretary General Subhash C Kashyap, senior advocate Harish Salve and former Chief Vigilance Commissioner Sanjay Kothari will also be members.
