How long will the effect of ‘Remal’ cyclone last? Why did the Meteorological department advise Bihar to be alert for 5 days?

Cyclonic storm ‘Remal’ has claimed many lives so far. So far six people have lost their lives due to Ramal in West Bengal. At least 13 people were killed on Sunday night due to severe storms and heavy rains that lashed many parts of Telangana. Heavy rains wreaked havoc in several districts, including the state capital Hyderabad, along with heavy storms. After Ramal hit the coastal areas of Bangladesh, at least 10 people died and millions were forced to live without electricity. Cyclonic storm ‘Remal’ caused torrential rains in Tripura on Monday and 11 flights operating from Agartala airport were canceled due to bad weather. A high alert has been issued in view of the forecast of heavy to very heavy rains in several districts of Assam in view of Ramal’s impact.

Meteorological Department has alerted Bihar
An alert has also been issued in Bihar regarding Ramal. Air service between Bengal and Bihar has also been affected due to this. It is being said that the effect of this cyclone will be seen in Bihar from Monday to next five days. Regarding this, the India Meteorological Department (IMD) has said that this cyclonic storm originating from the Bay of Bengal has hit the coastal areas of Ramal, but after West Bengal, its impact will also be seen in Bihar.

Orange alert for these districts
According to IMD Patna scientist Kunal Kaushik Mete, eastern areas of Bihar will be affected by dangerous cyclonic storm Ramal from Monday. Although it will have a mixed effect over Bihar, the eastern districts are likely to experience above normal rains with thundershowers and squalls. Meanwhile, the Meteorological Department has issued an orange alert for rain in Bihar’s Supaul, Araria, Kishanganj and Katihar.

How long will the effect last?
The Meteorological Department has predicted rain with thunderstorm in these districts from Monday. Along with this, this storm will affect the weather of entire Bihar for the next five to six days. During this period, in addition to moderate rainfall in many districts, above normal level at some places, wind speed of 130 to 140 kmph is also likely.

According to the IMD, due to this cyclone, North Bihar will experience rain with heavy thunderstorm on one hand, while South Bihar will have pleasant weather on the other hand. However, according to Met department scientists, the weakened Cyclone Ramal is not likely to cause much damage, but the effect of moist easterly winds from the Bay of Bengal will continue in Bihar as well. Air service from Patna to Bengal and Jharkhand has been affected due to the impact of Ramal here. The Meteorological Department has advised the people of East Bihar to be especially cautious.
