UPSC Civil Services 2nd Topper Animesh Pradhan: UPSC Civil Services Exam 2023 Final Result was declared on April 16, 2024. You will be surprised to know that Animesh did his UPSC CSE preparation without any coaching. He has topped this exam based on self study. He lost his mother to cancer just a month before his final interview round. That time was very difficult for him. However, due to his dedication and determination, he secured the second position in this examination.

Animesh gave an interview to a media channel and said, ‘I started preparing for the civil services exam in the year 2022 and initially I used to study for 5 to 6 hours. At the same time, no coaching was taken for UPSC preparation.

Let us tell you that Animesh was working in Indian Oil in Delhi for the last two and a half years and he prepared for UPSC along with the job. He said, I was preparing for UPSC along with my job, there was always a shortage of time, so I tried to study for five to six hours a day, though sometimes I could not study for that many hours. Sometimes five hours and sometimes one or two hours.

Talking about the daily routine, Animesh said, “I used to just study whenever I got some time in the day, whether I was traveling in a cab or going to the office, then I would listen to five minutes of audio.” I tried to continue studying in short breaks.

Animesh is a great example for UPSC aspirants who dream to become IAS, IPS, but cannot prepare for the exam due to job. Animesh said that if time is used properly, you will be able to fulfill your dreams.

Animesh gives tips for working UPSC aspirants

Animesh said that candidates who want to clear UPSC along with jobs have to make a strategy. The office should not be too far from home, so as not to take too much time during the journey. Make good use of the days when the office has a holiday. You can do most of your studying before going to office, because sometimes you feel very tired after coming from office, in such a situation you cannot study much.

Originally from Talcher town in Odisha’s Angul district, Animesh Pradhan’s educational journey began at Kendriya Vidyalaya in his hometown. Animesh later obtained his graduation degree in Computer Science from National Institute of Technology (NIR) Rourkela.
