‘I don’t work just for looks’, the actor compared himself to Dilip Kumar, saying- ‘I work for the audience…’

New Delhi. Shekhar Suman is in the limelight these days because of the Sanjay Leela Bhansali-directed web series ‘Hiramandi’. Although the actor returned to the screen after a long time with this series, he does not consider it his comeback. Recently, during a conversation with Indian Express, actor Shekhar Suman compared himself to Bollywood veterans and said that he does not want to work just to appear on screen. His aim to act in films and serials is not only that he can say that he has acted in 10 serials and films.

Refusing to consider ‘Hiramandi’ as his comeback, Shekhar Suman says he is basically a theater actor. He says, ‘I am a theater artist and there is no going back. You are just waiting to get the right role. Yes, there may be a gap. I keep a distance because I only want to roll what excites me. I don’t work to show that I am part of only 10 OTT series, five films.

Shekhar Suman is in the limelight these days for ‘Hirmandi: The Diamond Bazaar’.

Comparison with Dilip Kumar-Aamir Khan
Shekhar Suman continues, ‘I learned from Dilip Kumar Sahib. He probably did a film every two-three years. Aamir Khan also takes a break after every film. They all position themselves in such a way that people are excited to see them. The actor believes that he does not want to work just for the sake of working.

Actors don’t want to make ‘mistakes’
He further says, ‘There is no point in doing ordinary films and serials. It is very painful for an actor when you realize in the middle of a project that you have made a mistake.
