‘…I dug my own grave’ Dino Morea on why he didn’t find success in films, reveals his mistakes

Bollywood actor Dino Morea started his career with modeling. After this, he got his first film offer in the year 1999. However, Dino Morea did not have much success in films. Now the actor has spoken about his failures in a podcast. He also revealed where he made mistakes in the film industry. In this podcast, he also revealed how he came across the film Raaz.

The first film was a flop

In an exclusive conversation with Siddharth Kanan, Dino Morea talks about his debut film ‘Pyaar Main Kabhi Kabhi’. He said that the film was very good. However, it did not get much love at the box office. Talking about her career, she said that she got a lot of love when she went to different cities for the premiere of ‘Pyar Mein Kabhi Kabhi’. However, after ‘Pyaar Mein Kabhi Kabhi’ he did not get a film offer and returned to his modeling world.

Film offers did not come for a long time after the first film.

He said, “Everywhere I go now, I go as an actor and model. I was doing the finale of the show, it was a different level of excitement.” He said I was feeling great at that time, but I wasn’t getting film offers. He said that after the first film, he did not get any film offers for about a year and a half. At that time he was also enjoying his modeling. However, about a year and a half after the first film, he started meeting people for this film.

Dino Morea said that he met Ram Gopal Varma for the first time. However, it was only a five-minute meeting and the meeting was of no avail. After this, Dino Morea met Mukesh Bhatt.

Dino Morea said that at that time Mahesh Bhatt was also sitting in the office with Mukesh Bhatt. He advised Dino Morea to work in TV. However, after that meeting, Mukesh Bhatt sent Dino Morea to Vikram Bhatt and offered him the film Raaz. Raaz was the biggest hit of Dino Morea’s career. Bipasha was seen with Dino Morea in Raj.

He told where mistakes were made in his career

Dino Morea further revealed that after Raj he hired a manager who worked for both Bipasha and Dino. Dino Morea said that I had no knowledge of the industry at that time. I didn’t know how to choose a film, how it works. Dino Morea did several films on the direction of his manager, but at that time he had a series of films which did not work. He said that back then people paid more attention to the setup than the film. If the setup of the film is good i.e. the film has great actors and great director then do the film. However, it did not work at that time.

Bipasha and Dino started getting offers for films together.

Dino said that at that time the pair of me and Bipasha became a hit, so we got many offers to work together. Dino said that by the time he and Bipasha realized that they were not going to do a film together, they had worked together in about four to five films. He said I don’t know what was going on behind the scenes. However, later I came to know that there was a deal going on that someone would benefit if Bipasha and I worked together. He said we were brainwashed many times to cast us together.

He said that my biggest problem at the time was that I couldn’t say no. He said that I was getting offers from my friends to do guest appearances in their films and I couldn’t say no. He said that he used to get offers from big producers to do small roles in their films, they would later do two films with him and I believed him, but nothing like that was happening. Dino said that in a way I dug my own grave.

Left acting and became a producer

He said I am not getting good offers. He said that after about 6 years in the industry, I understood how films work, but by then the offers started getting very bad. At that time I started saying no.
