The International Cricket Council i.e. ICC has announced the squad for the T20 World Cup 2024 tournament. You will be surprised to know that players from only four countries have been included in this team of the tournament. Not only this, six of the 11 players are from India, while three players are from Afghanistan. One player each from West Indies and Australia has been selected. The Indian team won the T20 World Cup title for the second time by defeating South Africa in the final. A player from South Africa is ranked as the 12th player.
ICC has named Rohit Sharma as the captain in its team of the tournament, as under his captaincy India won the title without losing a single match. He is also the opener of this team, while Rahmanullah Gurbaz of Afghanistan has been selected as the second opener. ICC has placed West Indies’ Nicholas Pooran at number three while India’s Suryakumar Yadav has been selected at number four. ICC has selected Australia’s Marcus Stoinis for number five. India all-rounder Hardik Pandya has been included in the playing eleven for number 6.
Another Indian all-rounder Akshar Patel is also part of this team, who is number seven. At the same time, Afghanistan captain Rashid Khan has been picked at number 8, who had a strong performance with the ball and the bat. Indian fast bowler Jasprit Bumrah has been placed at number 9 while Arshdeep Singh’s name has been included at number 10. Fazlhaq Farooqui has been picked in the squad for number 11, who managed to take the joint-highest wickets in the tournament. South Africa’s Enrique Norkhia has been included in the number 12 squad.
