“If Rahul Gandhi accepts…”: Sanjay Raut on Bharat Gatbandhan’s PM candidate

After the good performance of the opposition Bharat Alliance in the Lok Sabha elections Shiv Sena (UBT) leader Sanjay Raut Congress leader has backed Rahul Gandhi to become Prime Minister (if the situation arises). Raut said, “If Rahul Gandhi is ready to accept the leadership, why should we have any problem? He has proved himself as a national leader many times. He is one of the popular leaders. We all love him. There is no problem. Or difference of opinion.”

In fact, Sanjay Raut was asked by reporters in Mumbai whether he would accept Rahul Gandhi as Prime Minister if the opportunity arose.

He also targeted Bihar Chief Minister Nitish Kumar’s Janata Dal (United) and Chandrababu Naidu’s Telugu Desam Party (TDP) which support the BJP-led National Democratic Alliance (NDA).

“The government they want to form with the support of two pillars – TDP and JD(U) could weaken at any moment. The ‘Modi brand’ is now over,” the Shiv Sena (UBT) leader said.

Raut indicated that the Indian bloc is ready to accept either Nitish Kumar or Chandrababu Naidu, as both have always supported democracy.

He said, “BJP does not have a mandate. What if Chandrababu Naidu and Nitish Kumar decide to go ahead with democracy and work in a democratic system? Chandrababu Naidu or Nitish Kumar, both have always supported democracy. They have.”

Chandrababu Naidu has extended his support to the BJP and confirmed that he is “part of the NDA”. “I have seen many political changes in the country. I am in the NDA,” he said.

Chandrababu Naidu and Nitish Kumar attended the NDA meeting in New Delhi on Wednesday.

The BJP has won 240 seats in the Lok Sabha elections, which is 63 less than the 303 seats it won in 2019. At the same time, the number of Congress seats increased significantly, this time the party managed to win 99 seats, as against 52 last time. India Block’s performance defied all predictions.
