IITs: Reservation of 246 seats for girls in IITs, decision taken on notification of Ministry of Education.

246 seats are reserved for girls in IIT Kanpur. To balance the gender ratio in engineering, additional seats have been earmarked for girls in IITs on the directives of the Ministry of Education. In IIT Kanpur 20 percent seats are reserved for girls under supernumerary. In this, even if the allotted seats are full, daughters will be able to get admission. Each course has supernumerary seats. A total of 246 seats have been allotted under supernumerary in 14 courses running in the institute. Electrical engineering has the highest number of 39 seats and mechanical engineering and civil engineering have 30 seats each.

There are also 26 supernumerary seats in Computer Science. A total of 1210 seats will be taken for admission to the institute, out of which 964 seats are general and 246 seats are supernumerary. Jhosa’s counseling is going on for admission to the institute. Under this, the first phase of seat allotment will be held on June 20.

Lottery will be held for 10 out of 100 toppers of JEE Advanced, will do free BTech from IIT, will get 3 lakh rupees every year
