Light rain with thunder, lightning and gusty winds may occur in some parts of Delhi-NCR, Haryana, Punjab, Rajasthan, Uttar Pradesh, Himachal Pradesh and Uttarakhand on Wednesday and the temperature is also likely to drop in the next two-three days. .

However, severe heat wave threat continued in several states of North-West India including Delhi-NCR on Tuesday and people faced extreme heat.

Punjab, Haryana, Chandigarh, Delhi, many parts of Uttar Pradesh and parts of North Madhya Pradesh, South Bihar and North Rajasthan recorded maximum temperatures between 44 and 46 degrees Celsius.

At least ten places in Uttar Pradesh, Delhi, Punjab and Haryana touched or crossed 45 degrees Celsius on Tuesday. Orai in Uttar Pradesh was the hottest place in the country with 46.4 degrees Celsius.

The national capital’s peak power demand reached 8,647 MW on Tuesday afternoon, the highest ever for the city. Hospitals in Delhi-NCR are witnessing an increase in the number of patients suffering from heat stroke as the temperature continues to rise.

Due to its impact, Gujarat, Konkan and Goa, Madhya Maharashtra and Marathwada may experience light to moderate rains for the next 5 days.

Heavy rains are likely over Madhya Maharashtra along with Konkan and Goa from June 18 to 21. Along with this, strong winds with a speed of 30 to 40 kmph and light to moderate rain may occur over Karnataka, Kerala, Lakshadweep. Light to moderate rain is likely over Coastal Andhra Pradesh, Rayalaseema, Telangana, Tamil Nadu, Puducherry.
