New Delhi. The first semi-final of the ICC T20 World Cup will be played between South Africa and Afghanistan. Both teams entered with dreams of making it to the finals for the first time. Afghanistan have caused an upset and made it to the semi-finals of an ICC event for the first time. South Africa finished the trip by topping the group and Super 8. In this match, Afghanistan captain Rashid Khan won the toss and decided to bat first.
A trip to South Africa
In the first round of the T20 World Cup, the South African team, placed in Group D, won all four league matches and achieved the top spot. The team defeated Bangladesh, Sri Lanka, Netherlands and Nepal. The winning streak of the team continued in Super 8 as well. The team topped this round by beating England, West Indies and America as well.
A trip to Afghanistan
The T20 World Cup has been a dream come true for Afghanistan so far. Group C team won three out of four matches. The Afghan team defeated New Zealand, Uganda and New Papua Guinea. After losing to India in the Super 8s, they created a major upset by beating Australia and then sealed their place in the semi-finals by beating Bangladesh.
