IND vs AFG: Kuldeep or Chahal, whose fate will be sealed? Coach Rahul Dravid gave a big gesture

India head coach Rahul Dravid on Wednesday hinted that either wrist-spinner Kuldeep Yadav or Yuzvendra Chahal could be included in the playing eleven for the T20 World Cup 2024 Super Eight match against Afghanistan on Thursday as conditions there seem to favor the slower bowlers. India relied on their fast bowlers at the Nassau County Stadium in New York as the ‘drop-in’ pitches there had uneven bounce which helped the fast bowlers.

Speaking to the media on the eve of the Super Eight match, Dravid said, “It is difficult to keep anyone out. Circumstances were a little different for fast bowlers in New York. We may need to do something different here (in Barbados). UG (Yuzvendra Chahal) or Kuldeep (Yadav) can be used here.” He said, “We are lucky that we have all-round players. We had eight batsmen, but we also had seven bowling options.

Dravid also said that India will remain flexible in its batting order and will change it according to circumstances. “Every situation is different,” he said. This cannot be set in stone. I believe in flexibility. In the match against Pakistan, we sent Akshar (Patel) up. Rishabh (Pant) was moved higher (at number three), much thought was given to it. I don’t think we will have that much flexibility in Test (cricket). In T20 you see more flexibility in batting.

Dravid said that it feels good to come to West Indies for the Super Eight stage. He said, “It is good to come to the Caribbean soil and play cricket. Did some practice sessions. We are ready. Afghanistan is a very dangerous team. Their players play more in the league than our players. They are not a team to be taken lightly. They deserve a Super Eight.”
