So far captain Rohit Sharma and star batsman Virat Kohli have not been able to give Team India a good start in the ICC T20 World Cup 2024. Rohit’s bat still scored some runs, but in the first four matches, Virat Kohli could not touch double figures in a single match. Team India had to play four matches in the league round out of which Team India won three and lost one match due to rain. Now Team India is going to start their journey in Super-8 today and the first match is going to be played against Afghanistan in Barbados. The opening pair of Virat and Rohit has been a flop so far in this World Cup and even former West Indies cricketer Brian Lara has warned Rohit and Virat ahead of the match against Afghanistan.

Lara said, ‘I think anything can happen in this match, both are aggressive batsmen, both are world class players, but on Caribbean pitches you have to think about building a good partnership for the first wicket. Even 60-70 runs in Powerplay is considered a good start. I think one player can play the role of anchor, but it all depends. If any batsman feels that he can play better against any one bowler, he should do so. It is possible that both will not attack together.

Lara also talked about the do’s and don’ts on Caribbean pitches. Team India played its league matches in America. The first three matches were held in New York, where the pitch was helpful to the bowlers, and the match in Florida was washed out by rain. What do batsmen get on Caribbean pitches now? It is certain that the batsmen will have a huge advantage on the pitches in Barbados compared to New York.
