Kuldeep Yadav believes in answering bricks with stones in T20 cricket and with this aggressive attitude, the Indian wrist spinner is getting unprecedented success in T20 World Cup 2024. West Indies and USA are the joint hosts of this tournament. Kuldeep, India’s best spinner in all formats for over a year, had to miss the league stage in the US. He is proving very effective on the spinner-friendly pitches of the West Indies. He has taken five wickets in two matches, including three against Bangladesh on Saturday.
‘He helped me in IPL’
One of the reasons for Kuldeep’s success is his aggressiveness in bowling. He said he never compromises on his length. He said, “Length is very important for any spinner in the world. In this format you have to guess what the batsman is planning to do. For this we had to be very aggressive. He helped me in IPL and now in T20. World Cup Me too.” Now he faces his toughest test on Monday against Australia.
‘So you must have a strategy’
When asked how he sticks to his strategy when the batsmen are trying to hit fours and sixes, he said, “When the opposition needs 10 or 12 runs per over and the batsmen are trying to break your balls. “When he tries to attack you, you have more chances to take wickets,” he said.
‘I wanted to play in America’
Kuldeep indicated that he was informed about the team combination in the West Indies. “I haven’t played in America,” he said. I was the 12th player there and was carrying drinks. It was like playing. I didn’t bowl there but wanted to.”He said, ”The wicket there was like Australia. I made my T20 and ODI debut here in 2017 and I knew the situation. It is a good experience for a spinner to bowl here.
