Wicketkeeper batsman Ishan Kishan has given a special message to the Indian team ahead of the first match of T20 World Cup 2024 against Ireland. Ishaan Kishan shared the post on social media and wished the team to do well in the tournament. The Indian team will begin their campaign in the T20 World Cup on Wednesday. Kishan could not make it to the Indian squad for the ongoing T20 World Cup. In his place, the team has chosen Ribhap Pant and Sanju Samson as wicketkeeper batsmen.
Ishaan Kishan said on his official Instagram account that everyone should support the Indian team because this is the World Cup. Ishaan wrote, “It’s World Cup time and we all should support our boys. Best wishes to the support staff and team.
Earlier in February, the Board of Control for Cricket in India announced the central contract for the 2023–24 season, with Ishan Kishan and Shreyas Iyer excluded from the central contract. Recently, Kishan was dropped from India’s T20 World Cup 2024 squad after a poor performance.
By winning this tournament, India will look to end the 11-year ICC trophy drought. India last won the ICC trophy in 2013. After that, the Indian team reached the final of the 50-over World Cup in 2023 and the semi-finals in 2015 and 2019. Reached the finals of the ICC World Test Championship in 2021 and 2023. In the T20 World Cup, they reached the final in 2014, semi-finals in 2016 and 2022 but did not win the trophy.
